Retinol.. A guide to safe use for skin rejuvenation and combating wrinkles

Retinol serum is considered one of the most prominent skin care products, due to its effective properties in reducing wrinkles, unifying skin tone, and alleviating the effects of acne. InStyle magazine reported that retinol, a form of vitamin A, contributes to slowing down skin aging by stimulating cell renewal, which gives the skin gradual smoothness and uniformity.
Experts recommended using retinol in the evening routine only, due to the increased sensitivity of the skin to light, and starting with applying it once or twice a week, then gradually increasing the frequency of use according to the skin’s acceptance. It is also recommended to limit yourself to an amount ranging from two to three drops for the face, avoiding the eye area, and using a moisturizing cream afterwards to support the skin barrier.
On the other hand, the magazine warned of some possible side effects at the beginning of use, such as redness, dryness, or peeling, stressing the importance of temporarily stopping when irritation occurs, and focusing on moisturizing. She also stressed the necessity of using sunscreen with a protection factor of no less than 30 in the morning, and avoiding combining retinol with exfoliating acids or vitamin C in high concentrations within the same routine.
