The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Championship begins with the official draw being conducted

ABU DHABI, 31st JANUARY / WAM / The competitions of the fourth edition of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Tennis Championship for Women, “500 points category”, began today, and will continue until next February 7th at the International Tennis Complex in Zayed Sports City, with wide participation from the elite players.
The tournament is organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in partnership with Mubadala and Mary.
The start witnessed the draw for the tournament, which resulted in strong confrontations in the first round, most notably an all-Spanish confrontation between eighth seed Paula Badosa and her compatriot Jessica Pozas Manero, while Filipino star Alexandra Eala, who received a wild card, faces Turkish Zeynep Sonmez.
Ukrainian Diana Yastremska will also meet Brazilian Beatrice Haddad Maya, while fifth seed Lyudmila Samsonova will meet former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin.
Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, who holds a wild card, will face a difficult match against sixth seed Leila Fernandez, while American McCartney Kessler will face former Grand Slam runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Top seed and defending champion Belinda Bencic received an exemption from the first round, along with second seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, third seed Clara Tawson, and fourth seed Emma Navarro.
On the other hand, “Family Day” witnessed a large turnout from fans of all ages, who benefited from free entry to enjoy the tournament atmosphere.
