The UAE participates in the preparatory meetings for the 117th ministerial session of the Arab Economic and Social Council

Cairo, February 3, 2017 – The United Arab Emirates participated in the preparatory meetings for the 117th ministerial session of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States scheduled for next Thursday, which included the meetings of the Social and Economic Committee.
The state was represented during the meetings by a delegation headed by His Excellency Mohamed Saleh Shalwah, Advisor to the Minister of Economy.
The meetings discussed a number of important topics related to preparing the economic file that will be presented to the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level in its 35th regular session, scheduled to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It discussed the proposal to create the Arab Network for Social and Solidarity Economy, the list of the Population Excellence Award for the Arab region, and strengthening Arab-international cooperation in the social and development fields, in addition to reviewing the reports and decisions of the relevant ministerial councils and specialized committees.
It also discussed a report on the implementation of the Arab Observatory for the Economic Development of Women, within the framework of supporting women’s empowerment and enhancing their contribution to economic activity, in addition to the impact of artificial intelligence on work, the draft comprehensive Arab plan for adaptation to climate change, and the Arab Economic Report for 2026.
