While the train operates on a route extending for about (453) kilometers, and it is considered one of the ten fastest passenger trains in the world with an operating speed of up to (300) kilometers per hour, as it covers the distance between Mecca and Medina in about two hours.

The Haramain Express train connects five main stations, including Mecca, Medina, Jeddah Main Station (Sulaimaniyah), King Abdullah Economic City Station, and King Abdulaziz International Airport Station.
