"Nano Carbon X" Establishes a graphene production factory in "Kizad"

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the activities of the fifth session of the “Make in the UAE 2026” platform, hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, the ADNOC Group, and Al Emad Holding Company, and organized by the ADNEC Group.
The agreement grants Nano Carbon X an exclusive license to produce graphene technology patented by Graphene Star. This represents an advanced step towards building sovereign capabilities to manufacture nanomaterials within the country.
Nano Carbon X will establish a factory in Kizad with a production capacity of 960 tons annually. The factory was designed to be expandable to meet growing demand with the aim of accelerating the pace of growth and increasing production capacity through influential strategic partnerships, industrial acquisition agreements, and establishing long-term cooperation relationships with leading local entities. The production will serve four priority sectors in the UAE’s economy: paints and coatings, concrete and construction, polymers, batteries and energy storage.
His Excellency Osama Amir Fadl, Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Accelerators Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, stressed that these efforts reflect the UAE’s direction and enhancing advanced manufacturing capabilities locally represents one of the main goals of the National Strategy for Advanced Industry and Technology, and transforming them into tangible results that enhance national industrial growth.
He added: The agreement signed between the two companies represents a qualitative step in enhancing the localization of advanced technology and linking it to manufacturing. It will contribute to increasing the production capacity of factories in the country, especially in high-value materials, thus enhancing the flexibility of supply chains and reducing dependence on external sources, in a way that meets the requirements of local markets, and opens the way for creating new job opportunities, building national expertise, and supporting manufacturing industries by providing advanced locally produced materials.
He pointed out that the Ministry is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance national industrial sovereignty and place the UAE at the forefront of leading countries in the field of advanced industrial production. Enhancing the local capacity to manufacture graphene will give the country a distinguished position among a limited number of countries capable of producing these advanced nanomaterials on a large industrial scale.
He added that the new factory will work to meet the needs of national industries and serve export markets, which strengthens the UAE’s position as an advanced manufacturing base with global competitiveness, explaining that local production contributes to enhancing reliance on national supply chains, increasing confidence among partners, and responding quickly to market requirements, while reducing dependence on international sources.

He added: Around this facility, we have created an integrated system of industrial partners ready to integrate graphene into their products and supply chains in the paints, concrete, polymers and battery sectors. The UAE has all the necessary ingredients to become a global center for manufacturing nanomaterials, which include a strategic location, advanced industrial infrastructure, government support, and a clear national vision for building advanced industries. Today, we are turning this advantage into an actual production facility.”
The Nano Company has invested directly in GrapheneStar, obtaining exclusive access to the intellectual property and technological know-how needed to manufacture high-quality graphene domestically. This represents a commitment to proven and patented production capacity, within a clear timeline: the first batch of product is targeted to be delivered in the second quarter of 2027.
