"Sanad Group" and"Rolls Royce" They sign an agreement to expand global cooperation in the field of Trent 700 engines

SINGAPORE, 4 FEBRUARY / WAM / Sanad Group, wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company “Mubadala”, announced today during the Singapore Airshow 2025 an agreement with Rolls-Royce to expand the scope of its long-term partnership in the field of maintenance, repair and overhaul of Trent 700 engines.

The achievement strengthens the partnership that began in 2012, marking more than a decade of close cooperation between the two companies. During this period, Sanad successfully maintained more than 200 Trent 700 engines for more than 25 operators, earning it a prominent position as one of Rolls-Royce’s most trusted and efficient independent partners in the field of maintenance, repair and overhaul. The new agreement deepens this relationship, as Sanad will be entrusted with an expanded scope of work that includes up to 612 visits to the Trent 700 engine maintenance workshop until 2031, an increase of 277 visits from the current level of commitment. This enhanced cooperation strengthens Sanad’s position as the largest independent provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for Trent 700 engines in the world, forming an essential pillar in the global support network for this type of engine.

The Trent 700 engine powers more than 60% of the world’s Airbus A330 fleet, with more than 1,400 engines in service, and annual maintenance demand exceeding 250 maintenance visits. As the aviation sector continues to see a strong recovery in passenger and cargo traffic, A330 operators are extending the operational life of their fleets, with many converting passenger aircraft to freighters to meet global demand for logistics services.

Sanad will rely on its existing MRO facilities and test cell capabilities in Abu Dhabi.

The company will invest 125 million UAE dirhams (34 million US dollars) in the field of advanced tools, automation systems and modern devices. In parallel, Sanad will employ more than 300 highly skilled specialists, in support of its long-term strategy in the field of Emiratisation and development of national talent and skills, and to contribute to enhancing the growing expertise in the aviation and space sector in the United Arab Emirates.

Mansour Janahi, Managing Director and CEO of Sanad Group, said: “This historic agreement reinforces Rolls-Royce’s confidence in Sanad’s capabilities to provide world-class maintenance, repair and overhaul solutions on a large scale. Over the course of more than a decade of partnership, we have demonstrated our commitment to performance, precision and innovation, and with Rolls-Royce entrusting our group with an expanded portfolio, Sanad continues to demonstrate how Abu Dhabi’s engineering expertise can support the future of global aviation by providing reliability, sustainability and technical excellence.”

Paul Keenan, Director of Business Aviation Aftersales at Rolls-Royce, said: “Sanad Group’s increase in its Trent 700 maintenance capabilities not only strengthens its position as the largest independent Trent 700 maintenance provider in the world, but also supports our ambition to significantly increase our global MRO capacity by 2030. Today’s announcement is further evidence of our commitment to providing excellent products and services to our global customer base, and we thank Sanad for supporting us on this journey.”

This expanded cooperation represents one of the largest maintenance, repair and overhaul agreements for Trent 700 engines in recent years, and is a step towards strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center of excellence and innovation in the field of aviation. It is also in line with the national vision of the United Arab Emirates, which aims to support high-tech manufacturing, innovation and sustainability in various strategic sectors.
