Mohammed bin Rashid reviews the “Dubai Loop” and “Glideways” projects to promote smart and sustainable mobility

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, reviewed the Dubai Loop and Glydways projects, which are among the most prominent innovative projects of the Roads and Transport Authority, in the field of future transportation, and aim to enhance Dubai’s global leadership in mobility. Smart and sustainable, supporting the mass transportation system, and providing advanced solutions for first and last mile trips.
During his inspection of the Roads and Transport Authority’s platform at the World Government Summit 2026, His Highness listened to an explanation from the Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, Mattar Al Tayer, about the nature of the two projects, their technical components, and their role in developing an integrated transportation system based on innovation and future technologies.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reviewed the Dubai Loop project, which relies on innovative tunnels to transport passengers in the Emirate of Dubai, using advanced technologies that contribute to creating a qualitative shift in the transportation system, enhancing the efficiency and smoothness of movement in high-density urban areas, and supporting first- and last-mile trips. It is characterized by speed of implementation, low cost, and reducing the impact on existing roads and services.
Mattar Al Tayer explained in his explanation that the first phase of the project includes implementing a 6.4 km route, which includes four stations, linking the Financial Center area to the Dubai Mall, in preparation for expanding the implementation of the full route of the project, which extends up to 22.2 km, and includes 19 stations, linking the commercial and financial center areas, and the Business Bay area.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also reviewed the Glydways project, which is the first automated program for an automated transportation network, which provides a new model of smart and sustainable transportation in the Emirate of Dubai, and contributes to supporting the mass transportation system and providing effective solutions for first- and last-mile trips.
The Automated Transportation System (ATN) from Glideways is a new mode of transportation that relies on automated transportation networks, using self-driving electric vehicles that operate on dedicated, narrow paths that are not affected by traffic congestion.
His Highness was accompanied during the tour by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Chairman of the World Government Summit, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, and a number of ministers and officials.
Glidewise vehicles operate on electric power and can accommodate between 4 and 6 passengers, with an operational range of up to 250 kilometers per charge, and an operating speed of up to 50 kilometers per hour. The system is characterized by lower capital costs by up to 90%, and operational costs by up to 70%, compared to other means of transportation.
