"Prospects of Emirati-Kuwaiti cooperation in civil aviation" Topic of a workshop in Dubai

Dubai, February 4, 2017 – The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, in cooperation with the Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority, organized a virtual workshop entitled “Prospects for Emirati-Kuwaiti Cooperation in Civil Aviation”, with wide participation of more than 200 employees from civil aviation institutions and authorities, airports and relevant authorities in the two countries.

The organization of the workshop came within the framework of the General Civil Aviation Authority’s participation in the “UAE and Kuwait: Brothers Forever” week, which the UAE celebrates, emphasizing the depth of historical relations and strong ties of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, most notably the civil aviation sector.

The session was moderated by Captain Talal Johar, Senior Air Transport Specialist at the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and Abdullah Al-Rajhi, Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety, Air Transport and Flight Operations Affairs in Kuwait, spoke in it, with the participation of Mohammed Faisal Al-Dosari, Senior Expert for Aviation Safety Affairs at the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

The workshop discussed the history of bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries in the aviation sector, the programs for exchanging experiences, and the agreements and memorandums of understanding that have been completed over the years, in addition to coordination, cooperation and integration of roles in the civil aviation file at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council, within the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, and of course through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in a way that enhances the presence and influence of the two countries in international decision-making in the civil aviation sector, and supports the growth and development of the sector regionally and its compatibility internationally.

The workshop also focused on the prospects for future cooperation between the two countries, and new opportunities for its development, especially in the areas of advanced air transport, air mobility within cities, and the digital transformation of the sector, including the use of artificial intelligence technologies and drones, and ways to exchange experiences and cooperate in preparing the legislative environment and supportive infrastructure to embrace these developments, while exchanging best practices to ensure achieving a sustainable and effective impact and creating a fruitful model for bilateral and regional cooperation.

During the workshop, the speakers expressed the two countries’ keenness to strengthen strategic partnerships in the civil aviation sector, which contributes to supporting the national development plans for aviation in both brotherly countries, and keeps pace with the ongoing transformations that the sector is witnessing globally, stressing that the Emirati-Kuwait cooperation is a pioneering model for joint coordination and exchange of experiences, providing a role model for cooperation not only in aviation but in all development fields.
