المملكة: The Kingdom stresses the importance of strengthening development work to achieve sustainable development goals

praised The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s role as the development system in The United Nations in supporting the national plans of member states and contributing to achieving the goals of Sustainable development, stressing the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of development work and achieving a tangible and measurable impact.
This came in a speech by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad Al-Wasil During a meeting of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Gradual and balanced reforms
Al-Wasil stressed that institutional reforms must be gradual and balanced, and led by member states, while adhering to the principles of transparency and assessment of impacts, costs and risks.
He called for aligning country programs with national priorities, and ensuring the optimal use of resources in a way that contributes to In achieving clear development results, pointing to the importance of developing development financing tools, including innovative financing, and strengthening partnerships with the public and private sectors.
He renewed the Kingdom’s support for South-South and triangular cooperation, capacity building, and benefiting from digital transformation and modern technologies, stressing at the same time the Kingdom’s continued constructive cooperation with international partners to enhance governance, achieve development impact, and support stability, prosperity and comprehensive development.
