The Al Dhafra Grand Kingfishing Championships, in their second leg, start tomorrow

Al Dhafra, February 5, WAM / The “Al Dhafra Grand Kingfishing Championships” will begin tomorrow, Friday, in its second leg, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and will continue until February 15, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
The fishing boats will depart from three locations designated by the Organizing Committee: “Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club” in Abu Dhabi, “Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club” in Al Mirfa City, and “Dalma Port” on Delma Island in Al Dhafra, while the Organizing Committee will later announce the location and date of delivery of the catch.
The positions in the tournament are arranged based on the highest weight of a single kingfish, with the requirement of fishing exclusively with a rod, and that registration be individual, with one participant per boat, in addition to emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the security and safety requirements approved by the competent authorities, and documenting the fishing process on video until the moment of weighing, to ensure integrity and transparency, and adherence to the instructions specified for the tournaments.
The Grand Al Dhafra Kingfishing Championships are one of the most prominent marine events organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority with the aim of preserving the marine heritage and enhancing the status of traditional fishing in society. The tournaments also constitute a platform that brings together fishermen in the context of reviving ancestral fishing methods, spreading awareness of sustainable fishing, and encouraging community members to practice fishing in ways that reflect authentic Emirati values and practices.
