Abdullah bin Zayed: The second round of tripartite talks in Abu Dhabi sends positive messages and reflects the seriousness of the parties
ABU DHABI, 5 February / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the launch of the second round of tripartite talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States in Abu Dhabi sends positive messages that reflect the seriousness of the parties concerned in the diplomatic track, and in seeking to put an end to the human suffering caused by the conflict that has been going on for four years.
His Highness stressed that the UAE’s hosting of this round represents a fundamental step that embodies international confidence in the role played by the state in supporting dialogue paths and promoting diplomatic solutions to crises, especially in this file for which the international community agrees on the need to reach a comprehensive and sustainable settlement.
His Highness said: We highly value the close relations and friendship between His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, with His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, and His Excellency Vladimir Zelensky, President of the Republic of Ukraine, which formed an essential foundation for strengthening mutual trust, supporting mediation efforts and bringing viewpoints between the two parties closer, in a way that contributes to finding peaceful and sustainable solutions to the crisis. In this regard, we express our Our thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Putin, His Excellency President Zelensky, and the teams of the two countries for dealing constructively with these talks.
His Highness continued to say: We also thank and appreciate the leadership efforts and tireless efforts exerted by His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, who has close relations with His Highness the President of the State, “may God protect him.” We also thank the participating American team, which contributed to facilitating these talks and advancing this political path from which the international community is looking forward to positive results, which contributes to consolidating global stability and putting an end to the crisis.
His Highness added: The two rounds of talks held in Abu Dhabi resulted in fruitful and constructive discussions that reflected the existence of common ground on which to build, stressing the UAE’s keenness to provide a supportive dialogue environment that contributes to converging viewpoints and supporting peaceful solutions.
His Highness stressed that the UAE, based on its close partnerships and balanced relations with all parties, continues to support all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the crisis, based on its firm belief that cooperation and solidarity in times of distress is a humanitarian and moral responsibility that cannot be postponed, and in a way that contributes to alleviating the humanitarian repercussions and enhancing the opportunities for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
