Abu Dhabi, 9 February / WAM / The Trends Center for Research and Consultation announced the opening of registration and receipt of applications for nominations for the third edition of the “Trends Hub” Award for Scientific Research, which in its new version seeks to encourage academics and researchers, regionally and internationally, to creative, effective and innovative scientific research, within the framework of the issue of “sustainable water security”.
The award will continue to open nominations for its new session until June 30, 2026, with the winners being announced and awards being awarded on September 9.
In its third edition, the award includes five diverse themes: sustainable water security from the perspective of modern media, sustainable water security in light of climate change, sustainable water security from the perspective of artificial intelligence, sustainable water security and international treaties and legislation, and sustainable water security from the perspective of national strategies.
Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of the Trends Center for Research and Consultation, said that the issue of sustainable water security is one of the most serious and important global strategic issues in the twenty-first century, because it touches the origins of life, food, energy, and development, and even the national security of countries and the stability of peoples and societies.
He stated that, according to a recent report issued by the United Nations, more than 2.2 billion people suffered from a lack of clean and safe drinking water in 2024, and 50% of the world’s population suffers from water shortages at least once a month, which confirms that the water issue has become ranked first on the agenda of the countries of the world, because it is an essential component of life, industry and the economy.
He pointed out that scientific research represents the backbone of any successful national strategy to achieve sustainable water security, which prompted those responsible for the Trends Hub Scientific Research Award to devote the third edition to analyzing the issue of sustainable water security from five different aspects, including modern media, climate change, artificial intelligence, and national strategies.
For his part, Fahd Al-Mahri, principal researcher, head of the “Trends-Dubai” sector, said that applications for nominations for the award will be received in Arabic and English, provided that the size of the research paper does not exceed 6,000 words in Arabic and 5,000 words in English.
He explained that the award’s organizing committee has set a set of conditions that must be met by the applicant, including that the candidate must hold a high academic qualification in the field of study, and that the researcher must have prepared the research paper individually, in addition to the research paper meeting the scientific conditions approved by “Trends,” and that the paper must be an individual, original, modern, untranslated, and unpublished work, and not submitted for publication elsewhere.
