المملكة: An open exhibition with 665 works…and “Riyadh Art” paints the global face of the capital
The capital, Riyadh, established its position as an open art gallery by presenting 665 works of art via The “Riyadh Art” program, coinciding with World Art Day, to integrate creativity into the urban fabric and promote Quality of life.
The “Riyadh Art” program revealed its success in publishing hundreds of creative works since its launch in 2019, distributed among squares, transportation stations, and public facilities, transforming the city into a global cultural icon.
The program explained that its achievements included 665 artistic works within its major projects, represented by the “Noor of Riyadh Celebration” and the “Riyadh Forum.” Tuwaiq Sculpture,” in addition to the permanent collection of artworks in the capital.
Record Numbers
He pointed out that the “Light of Riyadh” celebration alone attracted more than 9.6 million visitors and viewers, achieving record numbers as one of the largest celebrations of light arts in the world across five editions.
The program indicated that these artworks were implemented with the participation of local and international artists, which created a visual and cultural dialogue that reflects Riyadh’s openness to global experiences and enhancing the presence of creative national talents.
Live Sculpture
The program organizers pointed out that the “Tuwaiq Sculpture Forum” represented a qualitative platform to support public art, through the “Live Sculpture” experience, which allowed the public to follow the stages of formation of the artistic work and deepen the relationship with the recipient.
The program emphasized that the arts in Riyadh are no longer a complementary element, but rather have become an essential component in building a renewed identity. For the capital, by integrating the artistic idea with the function of the place in the residents’ daily paths.
He added that the program works to support the artistic system in an integrated manner, by providing international exhibition platforms, providing participation opportunities for artists, and developing the artistic skills of new generations of creators.
Community interaction
“Riyadh Art” stressed that this transformation contributed to transferring art from the limited traditional scope to a broader space, which stimulates community interaction and adds an aesthetic dimension to Public squares.
The program touched on the importance of consolidating the concept of public art as an effective element in improving the quality of life, stressing that the capital is now reformulating the aesthetic relationship between people and place in a sustainable manner.
The program concluded by reviewing its achievements by emphasizing that Riyadh stands out today as a city shaped by art, which enhances cultural awareness and brings creativity closer to the various segments of society so that the experience becomes available to all.
