Academic and research cooperation between my university "successor" and"Padua"

ABU DHABI, 9 February, 2018 (WAM) – Khalifa University of Science and Technology and the Italian University of Padova announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a framework for academic, scientific and research cooperation between the two institutions.

His Excellency Professor Ibrahim Al-Hajri, President of Khalifa University of Science and Technology, and Professor Daniela Mapelli, President of the University of Padua, signed the memorandum of understanding, which reflects the commitment of the two universities to advance development in the field of knowledge, encourage academic excellence, and enhance international cooperation.

His Excellency Professor Ibrahim Al-Hajri said that the partnership with the University of Padova is in line with the strategic direction of Khalifa University, which is to advance progress to achieve national and international research priorities through structured, high-value partnerships.

He pointed out that this cooperation aims to enhance research capabilities, enable joint development of advanced scientific programs, and support innovation paths that translate academic excellence into tangible social and economic impact. This partnership confirms the university’s commitment to contributing to developing the process of transition to a knowledge-based economy and achieving the goals of global scientific policies.

For her part, Professor Daniela Mapelli said that the memorandum of understanding represents an important step in consolidating the University of Padova’s relations with international academic and scientific institutions, and cooperation with Khalifa University of Science and Technology is based on a shared vision of the university’s role in general as a place for knowledge production and exchange, capable of addressing important global challenges through interdisciplinary research, training new generations, and promoting dialogue between those belonging to different scientific and cultural backgrounds.

Cooperation between the two universities will focus on multidisciplinary research platforms covering the fields of artificial intelligence, engineering, biomedical sciences, and sustainability, supported by joint research infrastructure, organized movement of academic staff members between the two institutions, and coordination educational programs.

The memorandum of understanding also focuses on enhancing technology transfer and supporting applied research and innovation systems through joint agreements with the industrial sector, research institutes, and parties concerned with formulating political frameworks, ensuring that research results contribute to scientific progress, workforce development, and economic and social impact.
