المملكة: A Sudanese patient was saved from a stroke in less than two hours at “Mecca Medical Center”

The Saudi Urgent Care Program contributed to empowering a specialized medical team at King Abdullah Medical City in the Holy Capital, a member of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Health Cluster, to Saving the life of a 57-year-old patient after she suffered a severe stroke, through urgent interventionStroke The case was received urgently, and the necessary diagnostic tests and imaging were performed, which revealed the presence of a severe blockage in one of the cerebral arteries, which required immediate intervention via neurointerventional catheterization.

The city added that the patient was transferred directly to the neurointerventional radiology catheterization suite, where, thanks to God, the clot was withdrawn and blood supply to the brain was restored within less than two hours from the time of arrival, which contributed to reducing complications and regaining the ability to move significantly immediately after the procedure.

This success came from the integration of the efforts of a multidisciplinary team that included the departments of neurointerventional radiology, neurology, anesthesia, and emergency departments, within a participatory work model aimed at speeding up the response and raising the quality of care for critical cases in line with the goals of health transformation and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030
