"Dubai Marine" The first round of the fishing tournament concludes

Dubai, February 9, 2017 (WAM) – Yesterday, the Dubai International Marine Sports Club concluded the first round of the Dubai Fishing Championship, after 4 days of competition that attracted more than 135 fishermen, including two female participants, representing different nationalities, in the largest gathering of its kind for the sport of specialized fishing for the kingfish and skull categories.
The competitions were held at the club’s headquarters in Dubai Harbour, where the coronation ceremony took place on the closing day in the presence of Mohammed Al Marri, Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, and Brigadier Raed Ali Al Muhairi, representative of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, along with Khalifa Al Hammadi from the Sayaf Marine Foundation, and Ayoub Al Khaja from the Delma Marine Foundation.
The results witnessed Emirati supremacy in winning the first three places in both categories, as Khalfan Rashid Al Zeyoudi won first place in the kingfish competition after catching a fish that weighed 35 kilograms and was 161 centimeters long. Omar Ahmed Al Shamsi came second with a fish that weighed 29.85 kilograms and was 149 centimeters long, while Salem Rashid Al Zeyoudi came third with a fish that weighed 149 centimetres. 26.95 kg and 150 cm long.
In the scallop category, Ali Saeed Al Mazrouei won first place after catching a fish weighing 26.95 kg and 130 cm long, followed by Mubarak Salem Al Mansouri in second place with a fish weighing 25.90 kg and 125 cm long, and Hamad Abdullah Ali came third with a fish weighing 17 kg and 109 cm long.
Muhammad Al-Marri confirmed the continuation of the initiative to donate all quantities of fish caught, which amounted to about 400 kilograms, to the Beit Al-Khair Association, in support of the efforts of the “Food for All” project, which is a humanitarian project that aims to provide integrated nutritional meals and distribute them to deserving families.
