Sharjah Municipality announces the start of issuing permits for food preparation and display during the day in Ramadan

The Sharjah City Municipality announced the start of issuing the necessary permits for sites preparing and selling food during daylight hours during the month of Ramadan, including sites in commercial centers, as well as issuing permits for displaying food in front of stores before breakfast time for restaurants, cafeterias, sweet shops, tortilla bakeries, and others, as part of its preparation for the holy month of Ramadan. Those wishing to issue these permits can visit the municipality’s website and issue them according to the required conditions within two minutes, in addition to the possibility of issuing them through service centers. Approved.

Jamal Al-Mazmi, Director of the Health Control and Safety Department, confirmed that the municipality has begun its preparations for the holy month, and has put in place the necessary plans to ensure the provision of safe food to consumers, in accordance with the best health specifications and standards, and to provide some services in accordance with the necessary permits, such as permits to prepare food and display it for sale during the daylight hours of the month of Ramadan. These permits are granted according to conditions approved by the municipality, which include preparing and cooking food inside the kitchens, providing service to customers outside the site, and not using the dining hall.

Jamal Al-Mazmi explained that issuing the necessary permit to display food outside stores before breakfast time comes in accordance with several conditions, including displaying the food directly on the front sidewalk of the site, provided that it is not dirt, placing it in stainless metal containers, and displaying it in a tightly closed glass box of no less than 100 cm in height, and equipped with a sliding or hinged door. Food must also be covered with aluminum foil or transparent food-grade plastic, while using food-grade packaging materials as well. It is necessary to keep foods at an appropriate temperature (not refrigerated or frozen), and to prepare the foods displayed in the facility according to the authorized activity.

The Director of the Health Control and Safety Department stated that the municipality has provided the service of issuing these permits through its website, as the customer can enter the site, register, and then issue the necessary permit within a record period not exceeding two minutes, in line with its development efforts and improving services in a way that makes it easier for customers. Pointing out that the service can also be completed through service centers spread across various areas of the city of Sharjah, which number 13 centers.
