14 percent growth in the number of Sharjah Chamber memberships during 2025

Sharjah, February 10 / WAM / The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry witnessed a significant growth in the total number of registered memberships during the year 2025, which amounted to 76,110 memberships, after registering 8,385 new members, a growth rate of 14% compared to the year 2024, in which the number of memberships reached 65,000.

While the number of renewed memberships in 2025 reached 67,725, varying between industrial, commercial and professional memberships, the number of new and renewed free zone memberships reached 2,288, while the number of certificates of origin reached 90,983 certificates of origin, with the value of exports and re-exports reaching about 21 billion dirhams.

This came during the first regular meeting of the current year of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, which was held yesterday evening at its headquarters, headed by His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and in the presence of Sheikh Majid bin Faisal Al Qasimi, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber, His Excellency Walid Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice President of the Chamber, members of the Board of Directors, His Excellency Muhammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadhi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber, Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of the Support Services Sector, Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of the Communication and Business Sector, and a number of officials from affiliated agencies and departments. The meeting reviewed the most prominent work of the Sharjah Chamber during the year 2025, in addition to discussing a number of topics on the agenda, including the efforts made to develop the infrastructure of industrial zones in cooperation and coordination with strategic partners.

The Council reviewed the results of the Chamber’s international participations and its successes in establishing international economic partnerships, developing the foreign trade exchange system and attracting investment.

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais stressed that the achievements confirm the Chamber’s keenness to provide a business environment that stimulates growth and innovation and keeps pace with the rapid global transformations in the economic scene, so that Sharjah remains an attractive destination for investments and business opportunities at the regional and international levels. He pointed out that these results reflect the continued confidence of companies and investors in the economic position of the emirate, a translation of the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the close follow-up of His Highness the Sheikh. He pointed out that the Sharjah Chamber continues its qualitative steps in terms of enhancing the economic competitiveness of the emirate and providing innovative services that enhance the capabilities of companies and facilitate their external expansion, with a focus on supporting all vital business sectors, including commercial, industrial, professional, agricultural and digital, stressing that the Chamber continues to work according to its strategic plan for 2025/2027 in terms of consolidating strategic partnerships with local and international bodies, strengthening economic value chains, attracting qualitative investments, and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in order to create an economic system. For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadhi confirmed that the past year witnessed recording qualitative achievements that reflect the Chamber’s leadership in supporting the business community and enabling the private sector and local companies to expand into global markets. He pointed out that the Chamber was keen to intensify its efforts in attracting qualitative investments and promoting the exemplary business environment that characterizes the emirate by organizing trade missions and field visits to more than 7 countries, especially on the African continent. In addition to its trade mission to Kenya and Uganda, the Chamber organized for the first time A trade mission to the Republic of Mauritius, which contributed to opening new export channels, expanding the network of economic partnerships in the emirate, and attracting quality investments that support business growth in various sectors.

He noted that the Sharjah Chamber was able last year to achieve tangible results on more than one level, reflecting its keenness to support the business community and enhance the emirate’s position on the global economic map, as it concluded more than 8 memorandums of understanding with international partners that extended to various regional and global markets, which contributed to opening new channels of cooperation, expanding the scope of trade exchange, and enhancing qualitative investments. It organized more than 35 meetings and business meetings with local and international bodies, including institutions, economic entities, major investors, and entrepreneurs, with the aim of strengthening the network of trade relations. Developing partnership opportunities, in addition to extensive participation in economic exhibitions and conferences at the local and international levels, which contributed to supporting exports and enabling member companies to expand abroad and explore new markets.

In terms of the Sharjah Chamber’s commitment to spreading the culture of institutional quality, enhancing the skills of human cadres in the public and private sectors, and consolidating innovation and creativity in work environments, the Sharjah Training and Development Center of the Chamber achieved a series of achievements during the past year, most notably the implementation of the Strategic Business Leadership Program for the year 2025 for the private and public sectors, in addition to the Strategic Leadership Program in cooperation with Oxford and Cambridge 2025, the Diplomatic Leadership Program in Jordan, as well as the integrated training program for agricultural workshops in cooperation with the Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality.

The Center also signed 9 international cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding with entities from Britain, France, and Spain, and implemented 2,604 training hours for the Chamber’s employees. 86 male and female employees from the Chamber were trained and 418 trainees from the private and government sectors were trained through 21 internal training programs and 79 programs for the public and private sectors, while 84 male and female students were trained and qualified from various universities, colleges and schools.

The Chamber’s Sectoral Working Groups Department achieved pioneering achievements in 2025, reflecting its role in supporting the Chamber’s strategy to enhance the emirate’s competitiveness, attract investments, and empower various business sectors. A number of vital sectoral groups were formed and reshaped, including the Law Sector Working Group and the Hotel Sector Working Group, in addition to studying the formation of the Medical Services Working Group and the Advanced Industry Working Group.

The department was keen to highlight and enhance the role of sectoral work groups and market their activities and achievements through a group of programs and initiatives, the most prominent of which is the launch and implementation of the “Business Imprint” podcast series, with 12 episodes.

The Chamber’s sectoral working groups also organized and participated in 14 events during the year 2025, most notably the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition – ACRES, in addition to participating in various local and international events, including bilateral business meetings (B2B) with Belarusian companies and the Cybersecurity in the Quantum Age workshop, in addition to participation in international business forums such as the Emirati-Turkmenistan Forum and the International Government Communication Forum. The regular and external meetings of the working groups amounted to 33 meetings during which the implementation of 92 recommendations was followed up with a percentage of completion. 83.7%.

The year 2025 witnessed extensive activity by the Sharjah Chamber in sponsoring events and festivals that support the cultural, social and economic sectors. The Chamber provided support for 30 local and international initiatives that included the sectors of education, health, sports, culture and others, with the aim of consolidating the concept of social responsibility and promoting sustainable development. It also participated in international forums and conferences such as the International Forum for Government Communication and the World Investment Conference and focused on supporting entrepreneurial initiatives, youth events, activities directed to people with special needs, child protection programs and community health, which strengthened the emirate’s presence locally and internationally. He stressed the Chamber’s commitment to supporting the community and strengthening partnerships with government and private agencies.

While the Sharjah Excellence Award, organized by the Sharjah Chamber under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed a tangible development in its participation and contributions to promoting the culture of quality and institutional excellence, as 17 establishments and entrepreneurs were honored in various categories, including local and Gulf institutions. The award was distinguished by the expansion of participation, which exceeded 132 participants, a growth rate of 34% compared to the previous session.

The ninth session of the Sharjah Chamber Award for Innovators witnessed a wide participation of 319 innovative projects from universities and schools, and the most distinguished projects in the fields of sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship were honored, which reflects the Chamber’s keenness to enhance the culture of innovation and creativity among young people and enable them to transform their ideas into pioneering projects that contribute to societal and economic development.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed the performance of the branches of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the eastern and central regions and the results of the activities of the festivals and shows implemented by the Sharjah Chamber, the most prominent of which are the Sharjah Shopping Shows, the Khor Fakkan Mango Festival, the Dibba Al Hisn Salt and Fishing Festival, the Al Dhaid Dates Festival, as well as the Al Dhaid Dates Festival and the Al Dhaid Honey Festival, in addition to the Durrat Al Coast Festival, which was organized by the Sharjah Chamber for the first time in Kalba.
