Moscow announces that the Zaporizhya station was damaged by Ukrainian strikes.. What are the risks?


Declared Moscow that Ukrainian strikes led to the cutting of one of the two electrical supply lines to the Russian-occupied nuclear Zaporizhya in southern Ukraine, but ruled out any radiation danger.
Officials in the Russian management of the station wrote on the Telegram application on Tuesday: "Following an attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on the Energodar industrial zone, vital facilities in the city and at the Zaporizhya nuclear plant were damaged."
They explained that the station currently derives the electricity necessary for its operation from the second line, after the interruption of the first line.
But they stressed that the situation "Under control"and that the level of radiation in the largest nuclear station in Europe is within standards.

Exchange of accusations

Russian forces took control of the Zaporizhya station in early March, shortly after the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, and it is located near the front line in the south.
Kiev and Moscow regularly exchange accusations of launching attacks on the station, which threatens a nuclear disaster.
