The Egyptian Fatwa House announces Thursday the first day of Ramadan

The Egyptian Fatwa House announced Thursday the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, according to a statement reported by Egyptian media.

The statement stated that Dar Al-Iftaa surveyed the crescent of the month of Ramadan in the year one thousand four hundred and forty-seven AH after sunset today, Tuesday, the twenty-ninth of the month of Shaban in the year one thousand four hundred and forty-seven AH, corresponding to the seventeenth of February in the year two thousand and twenty-six AD, by the Sharia and scientific committees spread throughout the Republic, and it has legally verified the results of this legitimate visual sighting. The correct view is that the sighting of the crescent of the month of Ramadan in the year one thousand four hundred and forty-seven AH has not been proven.

The report indicated that, accordingly, the Egyptian Fatwa House announced that Wednesday, corresponding to the eighteenth of February in the year two thousand and twenty-six AD, is the completion of the month of Shaban in the year one thousand four hundred and forty-seven AH, and that Thursday, corresponding to the nineteenth of February in the year two thousand and twenty-six AD, is the first day of the month of Ramadan in the year one thousand four hundred and forty-seven AH.
