Sharjah Economy intensifies its field visits to the markets in preparation for the month of Ramadan

Sharjah, 17 February / WAM / The Sharjah Economic Development Department intensified its field tours to various markets and commercial establishments in the emirate, as part of its preparations to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, and out of its concern for the safety of all economic practices and the protection of the rights of consumers and merchants alike.
These efforts come within an integrated monitoring plan implemented by the department throughout the year and before and during the holy month on an intensive basis, as the department organizes awareness and monitoring campaigns targeting central markets, commercial stores and sales outlets to ensure that all economic establishments adhere to the applicable controls and provisions in a way that enhances transparency and establishes a fair and safe commercial environment.
The department confirmed that its oversight teams are working according to an intensive program of field visits that focuses on following up on establishments’ commitment to clearly announcing prices and the absence of any practices that harm the consumer, in addition to verifying the integrity of promotional offers.
Salem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Department of Commercial Control and Protection at the Department, said that the Department is keen annually to intensify its oversight efforts during the seasons that witness active purchasing activity, especially the month of Ramadan. He pointed out that the regulatory campaigns aim to ensure the safety of all economic practices in the emirate. We also pay special attention to ensuring the safety of the scales and measuring devices used in the markets and ensuring their conformity with the specifications and standards approved in the country in order to ensure the safety of all buying and selling operations and enhance consumer confidence in the local markets.
He explained that the department is also continuing its awareness efforts by publishing guidelines and instructions through various channels and calling on consumers to report any observations through the approved official channels, which contributes to strengthening community partnership and supporting market stability during the holy month.
At the conclusion of its statement, the Sharjah Economy confirmed the continuation of its monitoring campaigns throughout the month of Ramadan, based on its role in supporting sustainable economic development and ensuring the provision of an organized commercial environment that meets the aspirations of society and reflects the position of the Emirate of Sharjah as a leading economic center.
