Abu Dhabi, February 18 / WAM / Zayed University won the Gold Award in the Excellence in Innovative Practices category within the “NASPA” Awards for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region, in a qualitative achievement that reflects the university’s efforts in reshaping the student experience through the “Uniquely ZU” initiative launched by the university to enhance the student experience.

NASPA is a global professional association dedicated to promoting student success through scientific research, professional development, and collaboration among institutions of higher education.

The award honors excellence and innovation in the field of student affairs across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region.

This honor reflects the university’s adoption of an integrated framework for skills and competencies that has contributed to a transformation in student development mechanisms at the campus level.

For the Student Affairs team at Zayed University, the award represents the culmination of three years of continuous work to build a more cohesive, clearer, and skills-based student journey.

Jane Tatterton, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, said that this award represents appreciation for the efforts of the Student Affairs team and its continued commitment to enhancing the university experience, and the “Uniquely ZU” initiative confirms the university’s belief that education extends beyond the classroom, by integrating skill development into the various stages of the academic journey.

The “Uniquely ZU” initiative represents a pioneering approach adopted by Zayed University in developing the student affairs system, by integrating an integrated framework for capacity development with a modern digital platform that enriches extracurricular learning and enables students to track their activities related to the curricula and map and master their skills in line with their future aspirations.

More than 2,500 first-year students, both male and female, participated in implementing the initiative through foundation courses and activities, in addition to experimental groups that underwent advanced courses, before it was officially circulated to all students as of May 2025.
