UAE Food Bank launches "Bank of Charity campaign in the month of giving" To provide 8 million meals during the month of Ramadan and consolidate the values ​​of giving and solidarity

DUBAI, 19 February / WAM / Under the directives and follow-up of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, and Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Supreme Chairwoman of the Emirates Food Bank Foundation, the bank – one of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s global initiatives – launched the “Bank of Charity in the Month of Giving” campaign, to provide eight million meals of surplus food and deliver them to those eligible inside and outside the country during the month of Ramadan. Al-Mubarak, through 5 Ramadan initiatives targeting various segments of society, including: “Al Khair Refrigerator”, “My Home Without Waste”, “Mir Al Khair”, and “Zabeel Iftar”, in addition to “Recycle, Relife” within an integrated system for managing surplus food according to sustainable institutional standards.

The campaign falls within the vision and objectives of the Emirates Food Bank to be a sustainable humanitarian system that dedicates the values ​​of giving, and reduces food waste by managing its surplus and delivering it to those who deserve it with high quality, which contributes to supporting global efforts to reduce hunger, and keeps pace with national trends to enhance food security and achieve the goals of the National Strategy for Food Security 2051, in addition to supporting the circular economy, and reducing food waste and carbon emissions, in order to achieve a positive sustainable environmental impact.

Manal Bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team of the Emirates Food Bank Foundation, confirmed that the campaign comes under the directives of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Supreme Chairwoman of the Emirates Food Bank Foundation, to continue the bank’s journey in carrying out its noble humanitarian mission, and delivering food to the largest segment of those in need around the world.

This year, the campaign focuses on expanding the scope of surplus food management through integrated operational initiatives that rely on strategic partnerships with the government and private sectors, in addition to enhancing the participation of the community and volunteers in the various stages of food collection, sorting and distribution. In addition to achieving the highest levels of efficiency in delivering food to those entitled to it, establishing responsible consumption patterns, and supporting the bank’s goals in reducing food waste and enhancing environmental sustainability.

Al Khair refrigerator.

The Al Khair Fridge is one of the most prominent initiatives of the campaign. It aims to enhance community solidarity and reduce food waste during the holy month of Ramadan, by providing food refrigerators in residential neighborhoods in coordination with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai. The initiative allows individuals and institutions to contribute to donating surplus food from iftar meals consumed during the suhoor meal in an organized and safe manner, reflecting the values ​​of giving and preserving blessings in a sustainable manner.

My home is waste free.

The My Home Without Waste initiative represents one of the awareness initiatives that aims to enhance the culture of preserving grace within families, through practical and simplified content presented by a group of influential chefs, to enable housewives and working women to apply smart and sustainable methods to preserve, store and repurpose daily food, thus reducing food waste, supporting sustainability and enhancing responsible consumption patterns.

Mir al-Khair.

In addition, the campaign includes the “Mir Al Khair” initiative, which aims to support deserving families during the holy month of Ramadan by providing food parcels (Mir Ramadan) containing basic items, which contribute to meeting their daily needs and enhancing food stability for deserving families. The initiative embodies the values ​​of social solidarity and compassion, by involving partners and volunteers in the processes of preparing and distributing food parcels in an organized and sustainable manner, which reflects the role of the Emirates Food Bank in establishing a culture of giving and preserving blessings during the holy month.

Zabeel breakfast.

As part of the Iftar initiatives for the fasting person, the bank will organize the Zabeel Iftar initiative, which is a group iftar for workers in Zabeel Park, in a way that embodies the values ​​of compassion and community solidarity and reflects the spirit of the holy month, as it will provide integrated nutritional meals in a humane atmosphere that enhances the culture of giving and social responsibility.

“Recycle.. Relife” initiative.

In cooperation with the National Initiative to Reduce Food Loss and Waste “Naama”, the Emirates Food Bank will launch the “Recycle, Relife” initiative during the holy month of Ramadan, in a step aimed at consolidating the values ​​of sustainability and social responsibility, and enhancing the efficiency of food surplus management through an integrated system. The bank will collect surplus food from hotels, redistribute meals fit for human consumption to eligible groups, while unfit food will be transformed into organic agricultural fertilizer in coordination with the “Reloop” application of the “Ecicles” company.

This partnership aims to support the circular economy and reduce carbon emissions resulting from organic waste, in line with national goals to reduce food waste and secure sustainable agricultural resources, and reflects the commitment of all parties to transform environmental challenges into development opportunities that serve society and the environment.

The campaign confirms the Emirates Food Bank’s commitment to continuing to develop its strategic partnerships locally and globally, enhancing community awareness of the culture of preserving grace, and empowering youth and society to contribute to volunteer and humanitarian work efforts, in a way that supports the process of sustainable development and achieves a sustainable humanitarian impact inside and outside the country.
