$7 billion raised for Gaza relief

US President Donald Trump said today, in the first meeting of the peace council he formed, that countries contributed seven billion dollars to the Gaza Reconstruction Fund, which aims to rebuild the Strip after the disarmament of Hamas, a goal that is still far from being achieved.

Issues such as the disarmament of Hamas fighters, the parallel withdrawal of Israeli forces, the size of the Reconstruction Fund, and the flow of humanitarian aid to the war-stricken population of Gaza will test the Council’s viability in the coming weeks and months.
