The new lists include quarantine and non-quarantine pests, as they are classified according to precise categories that include insects, mites, fungi, viruses, and other plant diseases, as follows: Quarantine pests include the sapodilla fruit fly, the guava fruit fly, the Caribbean fruit fly, the long-horned data beetle, the Japanese strawberry moose, the pepper weevil, the apple stem borer, the red-necked longhorn beetle, the mango fruit fly, the corn leafhopper, the corn earworm, the Colorado potato beetle, and other species that threaten agricultural crops. Fungal and viral diseases include Rhizoctonia solani, Pythium spp., Fusarium xylarioides, in addition to citrus mosaic viruses, tomato leaf curl virus, infectious tomato yellowing virus, and citrus varicose veins virus, as well as diseases such as citrus blight, citrus leprosy, and coconut kading viroid. The center indicated that the lists The updated ones were prepared with high scientific precision to include all species that represent a direct threat to plant crops, taking into account the classification of each species according to the risks it may cause to the local agricultural environment. The center confirmed that the aim of updating these lists is to enhance plant protection and effective pest control, and to ensure the ability of government and private agencies to take appropriate preventive measures, in a way that ensures the safety of agricultural crops and the sustainability of agricultural production in the Kingdom.
