Emirati control over the fencing podiums in the 13th edition of "Nad Al Sheba course"

Dubai, February 21 / WAM / His Excellency Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Asian and Emirati Fencing Federations and a member of the Executive Office of the International Fencing Federation, crowned the winners at the conclusion of the fencing competitions within the activities of the 13th edition of the “Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament”.

The competitions, which concluded yesterday at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex under the slogan “Limitless Capabilities,” witnessed remarkable Emirati brilliance, led by the national team player Zainab Al Husseini winning the gold medal. Musa Al Balushi, Secretary General of the UAE Fencing Federation, Hassan Al Mazrouei, Director of the Tournament, and Adel Al Bannai, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Tournament, participated in the coronation ceremony of the largest sporting event of its kind during the holy month of Ramadan.

In terms of technical results, the UAE champions dominated the women’s epee competitions. Zainab Al-Husseini won the gold medal after defeating Sarah Basbas in the final match with a score of (15-11), while Emirati Rawda Al-Aleeli won the bronze medal after defeating Lamar Al-Nahla with the same score in the third-place match.

In the men’s epee competition, the Emirati Mohammed Al-Mazmi won the silver medal after reaching the final match, which was decided by Mohammed Rezaei Taddi in his favor with a score of (15-6) to win the gold, while the bronze medal went to Hassan Al-Foudari after he defeated Alex Manrique with a score of (13-9).

His Excellency Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi praised the organizational and technical success of the tournament, stressing that it represents an important technical station in the fencing calendar, due to the high competitive level it provides that puts the players in front of real challenges that hone their skills and enhance their readiness for future competitions.

He explained that the federation’s strategy focuses on expanding the base of practitioners and improving the quality of physical and technical preparation, noting the importance of benefiting from the organizational momentum of the tournament to discover new talents that support the ranks of the national teams, thus contributing to the sustainability of achievements and consolidating the status of fencing locally and regionally.
