The Ministry of Community Empowerment launches the “Al-Yafna” initiative to enhance community cohesion during the holy month of Ramadan

Dubai, February 22nd / WAM / The Ministry of Community Empowerment launched the “Al Yafna” community initiative in the holy month of Ramadan with the aim of enhancing cohesion among community members and reviving the culture of meeting in residential neighborhoods as a pillar of the Emirati identity, in line with designating 2026 as the Year of the Family.
The first station of “Al-Yafna” began at the Juffair Council in the city of Al Ain, to be the starting point for an initiative that will be implemented in eight residential neighborhoods across seven emirates within an integrated work plan implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with a number of local partners, neighborhood councils, and community institutions.
This geographical expansion reflects the Ministry’s keenness to ensure that the initiative reaches various societal environments, thus enhancing its presence and impact at the state level.
The initiative derives its name from an original word in local memory; “Yafna” is the vessel around which people gather and share in an image that sums up the meanings of closeness and sharing.
“Al-Yafna” aims to revive the culture of communal breakfast in neighborhoods, in a way that enhances communication between neighbors, opens spaces for acquaintance, and strengthens social ties between families. It also contributes to highlighting the Emirati Ramadan identity in a way that reflects the authenticity of customs with the participation of all components of society.
Through this initiative, the Ministry of Community Empowerment seeks to enhance the role of neighborhoods and families in the social empowerment system and to consolidate the concept of shared responsibility in building a cohesive and cohesive society, especially since effective community initiatives are measured by the depth of their impact, the sustainability of their results, and their ability to reformulate the relationship between members of society on the foundations of trust, cooperation, and belonging.
The initiative will also witness a diverse community presence of citizens and residents, in addition to the participation of influential community figures in a scene that reflects the nature of Emirati society based on diversity, integration and mutual respect.
