"Stand up" and"Environmental Protection Authority " They cooperate in the field of organizing environmental approvals for industrial sectors

Ras Al Khaimah, February 23 / WAM / The Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zones Authority (RAKZ) signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Environment Protection and Development Authority with the aim of establishing an organized and effective approval framework for new industrial activities within the priority sectors in the emirate.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Rami Jallad, CEO of RAKEZ Group, and Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Shayeb Al-Naqbi, Acting Director-General of the Environment Protection and Development Authority.
The memorandum establishes a streamlined environmental verification and approval mechanism covering the cement, chemicals and general industries sectors.
The framework was developed in close coordination with the Health, Safety and Environment Department at RAKEZ to ensure a seamless integration between regulatory and operational aspects.
The partnership aims to enhance the clarity of regulatory procedures, accelerate licensing processes, and ensure full compliance with environmental standards, supporting sustainable industrial growth in Ras Al Khaimah.
Under the new framework, industrial companies benefit from faster and clearer environmental assessment procedures, which contributes to accelerating the issuance of approvals and enhancing the ease of doing business.
The memorandum of understanding provides a clear coordination mechanism for processing expansion or modification requests, while specifying the requirements for environmental studies and permits in advance.
This approach contributes to enhancing transparency to investors, in addition to supporting effective oversight through integrated cooperation between the Authority and the Health, Safety and Environment Department at RAKEZ.
In addition to accelerating approvals, the partnership allows for enhanced knowledge exchange, technical harmonization, and the implementation of joint training initiatives between the Environmental Protection and Development Authority and the health, safety, and environment teams at RAKEZ, in a way that strengthens the environmental governance system and establishes best practices in the industrial sector.
