المملكة: 158 thousand tons of citrus fruits meet the needs of consumers during Ramadan


The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture confirmed that citrus fruits are among the most prominent National agricultural products due to their high nutritional value and effective role in promoting public health, noting that the increasing demand for citrus consumption and the diversity of their types reflects the importance of the local product and its pivotal role in achieving Food sustainability and supporting food security in the Kingdom.

Citrus production in the Kingdom

The Ministry clarified within the framework of the objectives of the awareness campaign that it launched during the holy month under the slogan: "The good of our land"Citrus production recorded more than 123 thousand tons of lemons, in addition to 35.7 thousand tons of oranges, making it a suitable healthy option on Iftar tablesand suhoor during the holy month of Ramadan.

During its campaign, the Ministry referred to various citrus varieties such as lemon, orange, tart, tangerine, grapefruit, and kumquat, in addition to its transformative products such as sweets and juices, to reflect the diversity of agricultural production and its support for the national economy, in addition to its ability to meet the needs of local markets with high quality.

In addition, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture called on consumers to prefer national citrus products during the holy month, in support of local farmers, enhancing the national economy, and contributing to achieving the goals of food security and agricultural sustainability, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
