The Bank of Korea sets the key interest rate at 2.5%

SEOUL, February 26 / WAM / The Central Bank of Korea left its benchmark interest rate unchanged on Thursday.
The Korean news agency Yonhap reported that, in a decision that was widely expected, the Monetary Policy Council of the Bank of Korea kept the key interest rate unchanged at 2.5% at its last meeting to set interest rates in Seoul.
The agency added that this is the sixth consecutive decision to keep the interest rate unchanged, even though the Korean Central Bank is still in a monetary easing cycle.
She noted that since October 2024, the Bank of Korea lowered the benchmark interest rate by 100 basis points from 3.5% in an attempt to boost economic growth, and then kept it at this level unchanged since May 2025.
