A massive fire near the largest oil refinery in the Abadan complex in southern Iran

Iranian reports reported, on Wednesday evening, that a massive fire broke out in the Abadan Industrial Complex in southern Iran.
The agency reported "Esna" Iranian Semi-official newspaper, quoting Ali Ahmadian, head of the municipal fire and safety department, said that the accident occurred at a polymer factory within the industrial complex.
The agency confirmed that there were no deaths or injuries at the site, which includes the largest oil refinery in the country, with a refining capacity of about 500 thousand barrels per day.
The agency reported that six firefighting teams were fighting the fire, noting that the teams expected to extinguish it within an hour. The report did not indicate that the refinery was affected.
This incident coincides with the resumption of negotiations between Tehran and the United States in Geneva, in an attempt to avoid a military strike.
It witnessed Oil markets were volatile during the days leading up to the talks, and Thursday’s fire contributed to Brent crude futures prices rising to their highest level during the session, exceeding $72 a barrel.
