A space object surprises residents in the skies of America

A meteorite hurtling toward Earth exploded over the northeastern United States on Saturday, according to NASA, causing a sound that resonated throughout the region as a result of an explosion with a force equivalent to 300 tons of TNT.
Jennifer Doreen, NASA’s deputy head of news, told AFP that the fireball disintegrated over northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire at 14:06 (18:06 GMT).
She explained that “this fireball was not related to any currently active meteor showers, but rather it was a natural object and was not caused by the return of space debris or an artificial satellite” to the atmosphere.
She added, “The energy released when it disintegrates is estimated to be equivalent to about 300 tons of TNT, which explains the loud explosions.”
The meteorite was traveling at a speed of more than 120,000 kilometers per hour at an altitude of about 64 kilometers when it disintegrated.
The sound of the sudden explosions caused panic among residents, while social media users reported that the force of the explosion was so enormous that it caused homes to shake.
