After his injury…replacements for De Jong in Barcelona

Barcelona suffered a heavy blow when its Dutch star, Frenkie de Jong, suffered an injury that will keep him out of the field in the coming period.
Barcelona officially announced yesterday evening that Frenkie de Jong suffered an injury to the lower part of his right leg muscle during the morning training session.
According to what Barcelona confirmed, medical examinations indicate that De Jong’s expected recovery period will range between 5 and 6 weeks.
De Jong’s injury comes at a crucial stage of the season, in light of Barcelona’s strong competition with Real Madrid in the Spanish League, in addition to the 0-4 loss to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the King’s Cup semi-finals, in addition to an upcoming confrontation in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain in France or Newcastle United in England.
De Jong regained his level and scored his first goal of the season against Levante in the last match, which prompts German coach Hansi Flick to look for alternatives capable of replacing him.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, there are 3 names that can compensate for De Jong’s absence in the coming period.
The first name is Marc Bernal, who is performing well physically and technically, and he also scored a goal in the last match against Levante.
Bernal is distinguished by his ability to move the ball quickly in addition to his physical strength, but Flick deals with his playing minutes cautiously after a long injury.
The second option is Marc Casado, who the Catalan newspaper described as “playing with great energy” and covering wide areas.
Casado did not get a major starting role, and only started twice when Pedri was absent.
Defender Eric Garcia also appears among the options, as he is an element that Flick trusts in big matches, and although he is a centre-back, he played 6 matches as a defensive anchor this season.
The problem with relying on Garcia in the middle is that the team loses an important element in defense.
There are other additional names such as Tommy Marquez from the reserve team, who is similar to De Jong in playing style and may get more opportunity during the absence.
