The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority: Activating operational plans to contain the repercussions of regional developments

Abu Dhabi, 1st March / WAM / The General Authority of Civil Aviation in the United Arab Emirates revealed the activation of operational plans to contain the repercussions of the developments taking place in the region, stressing that the UAE aviation sector continues to manage passenger traffic in an organized and flexible manner to contain the impact of successive amendments to flight schedules, which contributes to reducing operational impacts and ensuring the smooth flow of procedures within the passenger terminals of the country’s airports.
The Authority reported that the country’s airports and national carriers are working in an integrated manner to manage operational traffic according to the approved plans, and the procedures included rerouting some flights between the country’s airports, accelerating the rescheduling processes for flights, in addition to enhancing field coordination within the passenger terminals to deal with any potential overcrowding.
The authority announced that the state will bear all hosting and subsistence costs for the affected and stranded travelers, to ensure the continued provision of basic services during the period of operational adjustments.
During the past hours, the country’s airports and national carriers dealt with about 20,200 thousand who were affected by the rescheduling of some flights, providing temporary accommodation, providing meals and drinks, in addition to facilitating rebooking procedures in accordance with the approved operational plans.
The national carriers also coordinated with the competent authorities with a number of incoming and outgoing flights affected by operational conditions, transporting passengers to their destinations within the country, providing temporary accommodation for transiting passengers, and completing the regulatory procedures in accordance with the approved frameworks.
The authority reported continuing coordination between airports and airlines to monitor flight conditions and reschedule them in a way that supports the resumption of operations in a safe and orderly manner as soon as conditions permit.
The Authority renews its call on travelers to follow official updates through approved channels, and to communicate directly with airline companies to learn about any developments related to their flights.
