The General Women’s Union expands its economic partnerships supporting women’s empowerment in Beijing

BEIJING, 16 APRIL/WAM/ A delegation from the General Women’s Union continued its official visit to the People’s Republic of China, holding a series of meetings with a number of leading Chinese entities in the fields of entrepreneurship and services trade, with the support of the UAE Embassy in Beijing, within the framework of strengthening institutional cooperation and expanding economic partnerships that support women’s empowerment.
This came within the framework of the Federation’s keenness to activate the role of the Emirati-Chinese Women’s Entrepreneurship Council, in a way that enhances industrial, economic and development cooperation between the two sides, as the Council falls within the initiative of “Emirati Women Entrepreneurship Councils in Friendly Countries”, which was launched by the Federation under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, in support of the presence of Emirati women at the international level, and expanding areas of economic cooperation.
The meetings witnessed a meeting with the Chinese Association of Women Entrepreneurs, which is considered one of the pivotal institutions in supporting women entrepreneurs and enhancing the role of women in economic development.
The association enjoys a wide institutional spread, as it includes 144 institutional members at the provincial, regional and city levels, in addition to 1,854 direct members, and more than 48 thousand indirect members.
The meeting reviewed the experience of the General Women’s Union in empowering Emirati women, in addition to introducing the Chinese association’s efforts and initiatives in supporting women leaders in various sectors.
The meeting also included an open discussion about future cooperation opportunities, with a focus on exchanging experiences in developing business environments that support women, and strengthening institutional frameworks that contribute to their economic empowerment, reflecting the common orientations of the two countries in supporting the role of women as an active partner in sustainable development.
The delegation held a meeting with the Chinese Association for Trade in Services, where prospects for cooperation in the fields of digital economy and cross-border e-commerce were discussed, highlighting the importance of developing training programs directed at women leaders in this vital sector, in a way that contributes to keeping pace with the rapid global transformations.
The visit comes in the context of the General Women’s Union’s keenness to build effective international cooperation bridges that enhance the position of Emirati women on the global stage and open new horizons for them to participate in various fields of development, in line with the vision of the UAE, which places women’s empowerment at the heart of its strategic priorities.
