المملكة: Al Sharqiya recorded a 54% decrease in dust cases during February

I registered The Eastern Region, including cities and governorates such as Al-Ahsa, Dammam, Dhahran, and Hafar Al-Batin, witnessed a significant decrease in the activity of dust cases during the month of February 2026 by a rate of 54% compared to the historical average.
This decline comes as part of a broader report by the Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storms in which it revealed a general decrease in dust cases across the Kingdom by 59%.
The central and northern regions lead the improvement scene
On the map of recorded numbers, the central region (Riyadh, Al-Dawadmi, Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Kharj) topped the list of regions with the lowest decline by 65%.The northern border region (Rafha, Arar, Turaif) came in second place with a decline rate of 56%, which reflects a significant improvement in air quality and horizontal visibility compared to previous years.
6 environmental factors behind the historic decline
The Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storms attributed this noticeable improvement to the combination of 6 strategic and environmental factors, which included the efforts of the environmental system and the Saudi Green Initiative, in addition to the improvement of vegetation cover and the cloud seeding program.Measures to legalize grazing and prevent logging, in addition to the decrease in the activity of the northern masses, contributed to significantly reducing the severity of dust and sand storms and the dust raised.
