The Speaker of the Italian House of Representatives affirms his country’s solidarity with the UAE regarding the Iranian attacks
Abu Dhabi, 3 March / WAM / His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, received a cable of solidarity from His Excellency Lorenzo Fontana, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Italian Republic, in which he expressed his country’s full support and solidarity with the United Arab Emirates following the Iranian attacks targeting the country’s territory.
In his telegram, His Excellency Lorenzo Fontana, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Italian House of Representatives, affirmed the sincere solidarity of the Italian Republic with the UAE and its people in light of the ongoing Iranian attacks with missiles and drones, expressing his country’s deep concern about the developments in the situation, and stressing Italy’s strong concern for the safety of civilians.
His Excellency also affirmed Italy’s firm belief that dialogue, respect for international law, and concerted efforts to reduce escalation are all basic pillars that the international community should adopt in its diplomatic endeavors aimed at enhancing security and stability.
The Speaker of the Italian House of Representatives indicated his great pride in the fruitful meetings he held during his previous official visit to the UAE, explaining that they reflected the depth of the mutual cooperation relations between the two countries and the solid ties of friendship that unite them. He said that the dynamism he saw in the UAE and its concern for its institutions enhances feelings of sympathy and solidarity with the country at this stage.
At the conclusion of the telegram, His Excellency expressed his aspiration to convey these feelings of solidarity to all members of the Federal National Council, stressing the commitment of the Italian House of Representatives to support all initiatives that would contribute to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region.
