There is a huge demand to participate in the jiu-jitsu competitions in the Mansour bin Zayed Ramadan Championship

Abu Dhabi, 4 March / WAM / The Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation confirmed that there is a great demand for registration and participation in the jiu-jitsu competitions within the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ramadan Championship – Al Wathba 2026, for the under-14, 16, and 18-year-old categories, and the adult category, pointing to the success of the first competitions that were held yesterday evening for the under-14 and 16-year-old categories.

His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said that the coincidence of the tournament with the “Year of the Family” embodies the vision of the wise leadership for the Emirati family to be the focus of development, development and prosperity, which enhances community interaction, establishes a culture of family cohesion, and motivates community members to interact with programs and initiatives that support quality of life and sustainable health.

He added that the sport of jiu-jitsu has achieved qualitative development and widespread societal spread, thanks to the support of the wise leadership and the keenness of families to encourage their children to participate and develop, especially after it became the national sport of the country. He explained that the increasing number of participants in the first competitions confirms the established position of the game in society.

Al Dhaheri praised the idea of ​​holding the tournament, which witnesses the participation of more than 5,000 male and female athletes in 16 competitions, stressing that it represents a major sporting event in light of the wide diversity in competitive sports and the increasing number of participants from various parts of the country and in all age groups.

For their part, a number of participants expressed their appreciation to the organizing committee for including jiu-jitsu competitions within the tournament’s activities, stressing that the Ramadan atmosphere in Al Wathba added a distinctive character to the competitions.

Player Khalfan Al Marzouqi from “777 Academy” explained that he achieved third place after strong competitions that witnessed a remarkable crowd of families.

Player Saif Jumaa from the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club expressed his happiness at winning first place and the gold medal, noting that the competition in the atmosphere of Ramadan constituted an additional motivation to provide the best level.

In turn, player Ghayahib Al Rashidi from Al Ain Club described participation in the tournament as a motivating station for every male and female athlete, in light of the diversity of competitions and the quality of organization, in addition to the presence of parents to support their children.

She expressed her happiness at winning the gold medal, stressing that participating in the tournament is a unique experience in her sporting career.
