14 performances in the 35th session of Sharjah Theater Days

Sharjah, 4 March / WAM / Preparations are continuing for the launch of the thirty-fifth session of Sharjah Theater Days, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

The activities of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the event, which is organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture, held its fourth meeting yesterday evening at the Palace of Culture, headed by Ahmed Bourahima, director of the festival, and in the presence of members Ismail Abdullah, Ahmed Al Jasmi, Muhammad Jamal, and Abdullah Rashid.

The committee reviewed the report of the committee for viewing and classifying theatrical performances, which included Ahmed Al-Ansari and Abdullah Rashid from the United Arab Emirates, and Muhammad Massad from the Arab Republic of Egypt, and approved the program of performances and theaters allocated to them.

The meeting discussed the arrangements for the opening ceremony, which will be held at the Palace of Culture Theater, and includes the presentation of the winning show of the “Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Award for Best Arab Theatrical Work” in its thirteenth edition, which was organized within the fifteenth session of the Arab Theater Festival in Cairo last January, which is the Tunisian show “The Fugitives,” written and directed by Wafaa Al-Taboubi, and a joint production between the Tunisian National Theater and Al-Ostoura Artistic Production Company.

The committee for viewing and classifying the performances had reviewed 11 performances submitted to compete for the 35th edition’s awards, and selected seven of them for the official competition, while four works were being displayed within the parallel program, bringing the total number of performances participating in the session to 14.

The program of the session, which concludes its activities on March 31, will witness the presentation of two performances from the twelfth session of the Kalba Short Play Festival.
