"Identity and nationality" Exempts those affected by airspace closure from late departure fines

Abu Dhabi, 4 March / WAM / The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security decided to exempt groups who were unable to travel from the fines resulting from their delayed departure, as a result of the exceptional circumstances that the region is going through, and the resulting closure of airspace and the suspension of a number of flights.

The authority explained that the decision includes all cases that were unable to leave the country, including those arriving to the country on a visit visa, tourist visa, or holders of exit permits, as well as residents who canceled their residency in preparation for their departure from the country, whenever the fine was imposed as of February 28, 2026, in a way that ensures that their legal situations are addressed without any financial burdens being imposed on them as a result of these exceptional circumstances beyond their control.

The Authority confirmed that the decision comes in response to the exceptional circumstances beyond the control of travelers that prevented them from leaving the country on the specified dates as a result of the suspension or rescheduling of flights, within the framework of the UAE’s humanitarian approach in dealing with emergency situations and taking into account the exceptional circumstances of travelers and visitors.

The authority explained that the specialized work teams at various airports in the country and customer happiness centers continue to work in accordance with emergency and business continuity plans, and in coordination with the relevant authorities in the country, to ensure facilitation of procedures and treatment of cases related to the postponement or rescheduling of flights, and to provide the necessary support to travelers affected by these circumstances.

She added that the UAE, based on its deep-rooted humanitarian values ​​and its approach based on tolerance and solidarity with everyone, is keen to provide various forms of support to travelers and visitors on its soil during exceptional circumstances, in a way that reflects the country’s image as a safe and welcoming destination for all and capable of managing challenges efficiently and humanely at the same time.

The authority called on all concerned to follow the official channels to be informed of any developments or regulatory procedures related to these circumstances, stressing its commitment to continue working according to the highest levels of readiness and response to ensure the continuity of services and provide the necessary support to travelers and visitors in various circumstances.
