Abdullah bin Zayed discusses, during phone calls with a number of officials and foreign ministers, regional developments

During phone calls with a number of officials and foreign ministers of brotherly and friendly countries, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed the latest regional developments in the wake of the blatant Iranian missile attacks that targeted the UAE and a number of sister countries.

His Highness held telephone discussions with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Juan Ramon de la Fuente, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Youssef Raji, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Lebanese Republic, Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, and Nikos Dendias, Minister of Defense of Greece.

The communications discussed the repercussions of the current escalation and its repercussions on the security and stability of the region, in addition to the negative effects it may have on international trade, the security of energy supplies, and the global economy.

His Highness and His Excellencies the Ministers condemned and strongly denounced the blatant Iranian missile attacks on the UAE and the countries of the region, stressing their categorical rejection of these actions, which represent a blatant violation of the rules of international law and the United Nations Charter, and stressing the right of the countries that were subjected to attacks to take the necessary measures to protect their sovereignty and preserve their security and the safety of their territories, citizens, residents and visitors.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his thanks and appreciation to their Excellencies the ministers for their brotherly stance and their countries’ solidarity with the UAE, stressing the safety of all residents and visitors in the country.

During the phone calls, the ministers reviewed the importance of uniting the efforts of the international community at this critical stage to contain tensions, prevent the expansion of the conflict, and give priority to political solutions and diplomatic paths in a way that contributes to enhancing regional security and stability.
