المملكة: Urgent: 200 thousand riyals fine for marketing unlicensed educational resources

The National Curriculum Center issued a draft regulation for licensing printed and digital educational resources to regulate the PrivateEducation.
The regulation is implemented with fines amounting to two hundred thousand riyals for violators, and will come into effect ninety days after its publication on the website.
The new regulation prohibits the practice of any activity related to the production, import, marketing or publication of educational resources without obtaining a prior official license from the centre.
These strict provisions apply to all local and imported resources for establishments with a documented educational commercial registry, to include all educational levels up to the secondary level. Or its equivalent.
Technical examination
The National Curriculum Center is committed to deciding on applications for licenses that meet the conditions within a maximum period of sixty days from the date of receipt.
The process of technical examination of the content also takes ten days, with the beneficiary being given thirty days to submit the required amendments in the event of notes on the resources.
The regulations require the submission of an official pledge guaranteeing that the educational resources, whether printed media or digital content, are free of Any material that violates the culture, values, and political orientations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

With regard to copyright, the decision stressed the need to respect the intellectual property rights assigned to others, stressing that the license does not constitute an intellectual property document for the educational content provided.
Deterrent penalties
