“Economy and Tourism” confirms the abundance of goods and the decline in prices

The Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, confirmed the stability of food supplies in the UAE, noting that the fruit and vegetable markets are witnessing a large abundance of supply coinciding with a significant decline in prices.

Bin Touq attributed this decline to the continuous flow of new shipments of agricultural products and crops from various countries of the world, expecting the continued pace of decline in prices in the coming days as additional supplies continue to arrive in the markets.

The Minister of Economy and Tourism’s statements came in an interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of a field inspection tour he conducted yesterday in the fruit and vegetable market in the Al Awir area in the Emirate of Dubai. The tour mainly aimed to closely examine the market movement, monitor price levels, and determine the availability of food products, as well as ensuring the market’s ability and complete readiness to meet all the country’s needs for food commodities.

Bin Touq explained that the general scene clearly reflects a great abundance of crops coming from various parts of the world, pointing out that prices recorded a clear decline, as low prices were observed for some commodities that were not recorded a few days ago.

During his field tour, the Minister of Economy and Tourism was keen to follow up on the unloading operations of some new food shipments, as he listened to merchants’ assurances that unloading work would continue today and throughout the coming days.

Traders stressed that the entry of these additional shipments of basic foodstuffs will directly contribute to enhancing the volume of supply in the markets, which in turn supports the continuation of the downward price curve in favor of the consumer.

At the conclusion of his statements, the Minister of Economy and Tourism issued a direct call to consumers to be careful when purchasing, and to limit themselves to acquiring actual needs, warning against exaggeration in storing goods.

He stressed that the products are available and available to everyone, and there is no shortage of supplies, stressing at the same time that the Ministry of Economy continues to perform its role by closely monitoring market conditions, openly listening to all proposals and complaints, and working to overcome any challenges that consumers may face.
