Korea’s GDP will grow by 1% in 2025

SEOUL, 10 March / WAM / The economy of the Republic of Korea achieved growth of 1% during the year 2025, amid strong exports, while recording negative growth during the fourth quarter of last year, according to data issued by the Central Bank of Korea on Tuesday.
The Korean “Yonhap” news agency reported that the country’s real gross domestic product, which is a main measure of economic growth, contracted during the fourth quarter of last year by 0.2% from the previous quarter, which represents an improvement compared to the previous estimate of a contraction of 0.3%, according to preliminary data issued by the Central Bank of Korea, while this represented the first quarterly contraction that the country has witnessed since the first quarter of last year when the economy contracted by 0.2%.
The data showed that on an annual basis, the gross domestic product grew by 1.6% during the fourth quarter, down from 1.8% on an annual basis during the previous quarter.
For all of 2025, the economy grew by 1%, which is in line with the central bank’s previous estimate, but slowing from the previous year’s growth of 2%.
