Qatar strongly condemns the attack that targeted the UAE consulate in Iraqi Kurdistan

The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Iraqi Kurdistan, and considered it an unacceptable act that constitutes a flagrant violation of international norms and conventions that guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their headquarters.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement today reported by Qatar News Agency (QNA), that targeting diplomatic missions and headquarters represents a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and is a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and safety of workers in the diplomatic corps and undermines the internationally recognized rules of diplomatic work.

The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s firm position rejecting all acts of violence and terrorism that target diplomatic missions or undermine security and stability, stressing its solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for everything that would enhance security and stability in the Republic of Iraq and the region.
