"Muslim sages" .. 12 years of promoting peace and spreading the values of human brotherhood globally

Abu Dhabi, 11 March / WAM / In the blessed month of Ramadan, the Council of Muslim Elders celebrates the twelfth anniversary of its founding under the chairmanship of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and the membership of a number of the nation’s scholars, wise men and notables, who are characterized by wisdom, moderation, justice and independence.
On this occasion, the Council expressed its appreciation to the United Arab Emirates and its wise leadership for its continued support of its efforts and initiatives aimed at consolidating the values of peace and coexistence.
The Council of Muslim Elders renewed its commitment to continuing its mission of spreading the values of wisdom and peace and promoting understanding among peoples, in a way that contributes to consolidating stability and building a future dominated by mutual respect and coexistence.
The Council was established on Ramadan 21, 1435 AH, corresponding to July 19, 2014. With the aim of promoting peace, spreading the values of dialogue, tolerance and human coexistence, championing the nation’s issues, uniting and reuniting it, enhancing the role of religious leaders and symbols in confronting global challenges, correcting misconceptions and combating hate speech, intolerance, extremism and Islamophobia.
Over the past years, the Muslim Council of Elders has made unremitting efforts to spread the values of brotherhood and human acquaintance, highlight the tolerance of Islam in dealing with others, and establish a culture of dialogue, understanding and mutual respect, in addition to enhancing the intellectual immunity of the nation and strengthening the paths of Islamic-Islamic dialogue.
In order to achieve these goals, the Council launched a number of global initiatives and programs, most notably: the East-West Dialogue, the International Peace Caravans, the Youth Peacemakers Forum, the Student Dialogues for Human Fraternity Program, the Interfaith Pavilion at the COP28 and COP29 climate conferences, the Moral Education Fellowship for Children, the “Bridges that Connect Us” initiative, and the Ramadan Missions Program to spread enlightened moderate thought, in addition to organizing many international conferences and seminars that addressed peace issues. Citizenship, diversity, coexistence, respect and acceptance of others, and Islamic-Islamic dialogue.
The foreign offices of the Muslim Council of Elders also represent beacons of hope and bridges of communication with Muslims around the world. The Council established a number of branches and offices in several countries, including Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and others. Through its various publications, which exceeded 275 publications in seven languages, Al Hokama Publishing also contributed to spreading and consolidating the culture of dialogue, tolerance and coexistence.
The Council also launched a number of important historical documents, the most important of which is the Document on Human Fraternity, which was signed by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Ahmed Al-Tayeb, and the late His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, in Abu Dhabi in 2019, along with the “Twenty Code: Principles of Media Action for Human Fraternity,” the “Call of Conscience: Abu Dhabi Joint Statement for Climate,” and the “Call of the People of the Qibla” charter to unite the ranks of the nation and bring it together. In addition to the Council’s contribution to launching a number of international documents and initiatives concerned with issues of peace and dialogue, confronting climate challenges, and protecting the elderly.
