The Head of State and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia discuss cooperation relations and regional developments

Abu Dhabi, 13 March / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, discussed today various paths of cooperation and joint work, especially in the economic, trade and development fields, and the possibilities of developing them in a way that serves the development priorities and common interests of the two countries and brings goodness and development to their peoples.
This came during a meeting with His Highness, His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed, who is on a working visit to the UAE.
The meeting also touched on developments in the situation in the Middle East region in light of the escalating military actions and their serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability. In this context, His Excellency condemned the blatant Iranian attacks that continue to target the UAE and a number of sister countries in the region due to the violation of their sovereignty and international laws. He stressed Ethiopia’s position of solidarity with the UAE regarding all the measures it takes to protect its security, the safety of its territories and its citizens.
For his part, His Highness the President thanked His Excellency the Prime Minister for Ethiopia’s position in support of the UAE.
His Highness also expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to His Excellency the Prime Minister and the Ethiopian people for the victims of the floods and landslides caused by torrential rains in southern Ethiopia, stressing the UAE’s solidarity with them in these difficult circumstances.
The two sides stressed the need to immediately stop the escalation and resort to serious dialogue and diplomatic means to settle the various outstanding issues in the region in a way that avoids further security tensions and crises and preserves regional security and stability.
