Attack on the US embassy in Baghdad for the second time

A drone attack targeted the US embassy in Baghdad on Saturday, after two air strikes in the Iraqi capital, during which two members of a pro-Iranian faction were killed, one of whom was an “important figure,” security officials told AFP.

A high-ranking security official said that the attack was carried out with a drone, and another official confirmed that an attack had occurred, but spoke of launching missiles, adding that a projectile had fallen near the runway of the diplomatic complex.

A journalist from Agence France-Presse saw black smoke rising above the American embassy located in the Green Zone in Baghdad, which includes diplomatic missions, international institutions and government bodies.

This is the second attack targeting the US embassy in Baghdad since the start of the Iran war, and it comes just hours after strikes targeting the Hezbollah Brigades, which resulted in the killing of two of its members, one of whom was an “important figure,” according to security officials.
