Kuwait officially protests to ICAO regarding Iranian violations of its airspace and international airport

The General Authority of Civil Aviation in the State of Kuwait submitted an official letter of protest to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), against the backdrop of the serious violations and Iranian attacks that affected the state’s sovereignty over its airspace and the facilities of Kuwait International Airport.

The Authority confirmed, in the message broadcast by the Kuwait News Agency today, that these attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international charters and agreements regulating civil aviation, noting that they have exposed the safety of passengers, airlines, and workers at Kuwait International Airport, in addition to the facilities of Kuwait International Airport, to serious risks.

She explained that these events led to disruption of air traffic, which necessitated the suspension of all flights, and caused major material losses to the civil aviation sector and human injuries, in addition to endangering the security and safety of passengers and facilities.

In its message, the authority stressed the importance of taking the necessary measures by the International Civil Aviation Organization to ensure the protection of airspace and civil facilities and prevent the recurrence of such violations in a way that guarantees the safety and security of civil aviation and the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait over its airspace and the buildings and facilities of Kuwait International Airport in accordance with international standards.
