“Ports, Customs and Free Zone” issues guidance regarding prevailing weather conditions

The Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability Department in the Department of Planning and Development – Trakhees, affiliated with the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, issued urgent directives and guidelines with the aim of enhancing safety levels and ensuring the protection of individuals and property and business continuity.

The Corporation stressed the need for all licensees, operators, customers and all concerned parties within the scope of its jurisdiction to adhere to the utmost caution and vigilance, while fully adhering to the operating procedures approved in rainy weather conditions in accordance with the emergency plans approved for each entity, and to work to ensure the readiness of work teams and enhance rapid response capabilities to confront any developments.

She stressed the importance of constantly following up on updates issued by the competent authorities, and taking all necessary precautionary measures in a timely manner, in addition to maintaining direct and continuous coordination with the operations room at DP World to ensure rapid response and efficiency in dealing with emergency situations.

The Foundation called for avoiding unnecessary movement, staying away from low-lying areas and areas exposed to the accumulation of rainwater or floods, and not driving on roads flooded with water or valleys, in addition to the importance of not obstructing traffic or ambulance and rescue vehicles during emergencies, and working to protect and cover electrical equipment to avoid damage resulting from rainwater.

She stressed the importance of taking all necessary measures to protect workers, ensuring business continuity in a safe and responsible manner.

The CEO of the Department of Planning and Development – Trakhees, Engineer Abdullah Muhammad Belhoul, said that the safety of individuals and the sustainability of the infrastructure are a top priority, stressing, in light of these exceptional weather conditions, the importance of all parties’ commitment to environmental, health, safety and sustainability requirements, and following the highest standards of readiness and response.
